Renovation dumpster rental

Kitchen, bathroom, basement: keep the job site clean from start to finish.

Renovations produce more debris than people expect: old cabinets, countertops, tile, drywall, lumber, and packaging from the new materials. A dumpster on site means no piles in the yard and no runs to the eco-centre.

Which size for a renovation?

  • Bathroom: a 10-yard is usually enough (tub, vanity, tile, drywall).
  • Kitchen: a 15-yard is a good starting point; cabinets and counters take up a lot of volume.
  • Basement or several rooms: the 20-yard, same footprint as the 15 but taller.

Good habits

  • Break down cabinets instead of tossing them whole: they take half the space.
  • Put heavy debris (tile, plaster) at the bottom, spread across the whole floor.
  • Tile and plaster are heavy: keep an eye on the weight included with your size.
  • Never load above the top of the dumpster walls.

FAQ

Can I throw out tile and drywall?

Yes, tile and drywall are accepted materials. They’re heavy, though: weight, not volume, is often what decides the right size.

How much weight can I put in?

The 10-yard includes 1 tonne, the 15-yard 2 tonnes, the 20-yard 2.5 tonnes and the 40-yard 4 tonnes. Each additional tonne costs $160 plus tax, up to a maximum of 5 additional tonnes for any size.

What can I put in the dumpster?

Construction materials, wood, metal, drywall, ceramic, furniture and small mattresses.

Soil, concrete and brick are accepted, but each in its own dedicated dumpster. Soil can only be mixed with sod and earth. These materials are heavy: call us to pick the right size.

What’s not allowed?

Contaminated materials, chemicals, propane tanks, paint, batteries, tires and other hazardous materials. If these rules aren’t followed, a minimum $50 fee applies.

Do I need a permit?

On your own private property, generally not. If the dumpster has to sit on the street rather than on your property, a municipal permit may be required. Rules vary from city to city: check with your municipality. Getting the permit is the customer’s responsibility. Obtaining a permit, if one is required, is the customer’s responsibility.

We handle everything

We can also send a crew to pick up and load the debris for you, so you have absolutely nothing to do. Pricing is quoted based on what you want picked up: more volume, or heavier items (a piano, for example), means a higher price.
